Important Dates
Tuesday 2nd September - Children back to school
Tuesday 9th September - Year 6 Parent's Meeting (3:30pm)
Reading
We are passionate about reading in Year 6! Our goal is to make sure each child finds books that they love to read.
It is essential that each child reads their colour band reading book to an adult or older sibling at least 3 times per week. The purpose of this book is to improve reading fluency and children will be practising reading it aloud.
You must sign your child's reading record each time. Reading records are checked every Friday.
Spelling
Children will be given one set of spellings every week to practise at home. Children will be tested every Friday. Children will be able to revise and practise their spellings on Spelling Frame. Spelling homework is due on Friday.
Number Facts
Children must know all their number facts for the four operations to be able to access the maths curriculum in Year 6. To ensure that they are secure in these areas children can access TT Rockstars and Numbots.
P.E.
On Mondays and Wednesdays, children will need their P.E kits for indoor/outdoor sport sessions. Please ensure that your child has the correct PE kit.
PE kits are as follows:
- White/red t-shirt
- Black shorts
- Black leggings/joggers
- Suitable trainers (Not studded football boots)
- Black sweatshirt
Please ensure your child's PE kit is plain.
