Science
At Holy Trinity, we intend to give all children a grounded understanding of the world around them, irrelevant of their needs. We want children to develop a passion for Science that excites their natural curiosity and in turn inspires them to pursue their own scientific enquiries.
We believe, as well as building on children's knowledge and understanding of the world around them, we need pupils to develop inquiring minds, ask questions and make predictions about the world around them, which will enable them to be critical thinkers. We aim to do this by immersing children in 'real' world experiences.
It is our intention to provide a high-quality science education that provides children with the foundations they need to recognise the importance of Science in every aspect of daily life. When planning, teachers consider the content and coverage of other subjects and make meaningful cross-curricular links. We aim to identify and address preconceptions and misconceptions by adapting our teaching accordingly. Being flexible in our teaching allows opportunities to revisit 'prior learning' before moving on to 'new learning.
All the world is a laboratory for the enquiring mind."
