Our Foundation Stage Unit
In our Foundation Stage Unit, we believe the children’s personal, social and emotional well being is paramount. Therefore, we strive to ensure every child’s individual needs are considered.
We believe in following the children’s interests and therefore regularly observe each child to identify key learning and next steps. In this way, we provide a holistic and individualised learning program for each child resulting in independent and motivated learners.
We strive to develop confident children who have a voice in their education and are able to communicate and interact with the world around them.
A great deal of emphasis is placed on first hand experiences with regular environment walks, trips to the library, local parks and shops. We also arrange visits to the farm and zoo.
We believe that parents play a vital role in their children’s education and hold weekly library activities and periodic activity sessions for parents to stay and join in. These include book sharing sessions, creative sessions and stay and play sessions.
Language development is a crucial part of the curriculum. We therefore tailor speech and language sessions to individual needs which involves children developing their vocabulary and learning to sentence build whilst providing plenty of opportunities for them to develop newly acquired skills. This helps to build their confidence as well as fluency in oral skills.
