Welcome to Reception at Holy Trinity Church of England Primary School! We have such an exciting curriculum planned for you! Please check our web area for stories and activities to support the themes and skills that we will be exploring this term.

This term we will be looking at a few different topics such as...
Minibeasts
Minibeasts is an umbrella term for a range of small, invertebrate creatures.
We will be helping the children to understand nature and the world around them. We will be taking a closer look at two different types of bees, honey bees and bumble bees! We will be going on Minibeast Hunts, creating butterfly symmetry paintings and reading lots of books such as The Very Lazy Ladybird and non-fiction texts.
Under the Sea
How can we care for the sea and animals in it? We will be exploring shipwrecks and predicting what happened, talking about sea creatures and their features, learning about rock pools, fossils, sand and beaches.
Some ways you could help at home:
- Watch "Come Outside: Fish"
- Watch Cbeebies "Our Planet: Sea"
- Experiment with Float and Sink acitvities
In Maths we are will be exploring the White Rose Maths units Alive in 5 and Growing 6, 7 and 8 for beginning of Spring. By the end of Spring the children will have also covered Building 9 and 10.

In Phonics we will develop our awareness of sounds by reviewing Phase 1 Phonics and learning Phase 2 and 3, we will build on our use and recognition of sounds to help us with our reading and word building. We will be using Pearson's Bug Club Phonics, keep watching our website for links and games.
