Dear Parents/Carers,
RE: Firework Safety – A Message of Care and Concern
As Bonfire Night approaches, I wanted to write to you with a message from the heart about keeping our children safe during this period.
Fireworks can be exciting and beautiful and can be a chance to make memories as a family. But they are also extremely dangerous, especially in the hands of children. Sadly, we have received some concerning reports that children in the local area have been seen playing with fireworks.
This is incredibly worrying. Fireworks are explosives, and even small ones can cause serious, life-changing injuries. Sparklers, for example, burn at temperatures five times hotter than boiling water. Fireworks are not toys and should never be handled by children.
Please take a moment to speak with your child at home about the importance of never touching, picking up, or playing with fireworks or sparklers. It’s also important that children know what to do if they see someone else handling them unsafely – to walk away and tell a trusted adult immediately.
We want all of our families to enjoy the season safely. If you are celebrating Bonfire Night, we encourage you to attend a professionally organised display, where safety measures are carefully followed. These are always the safest option. Please see this link for more information on firework safety: Firework safety advice hub.
At Holy Trinity, we are a school family, and we care deeply about every child. Thank you for your support in helping us to keep our pupils safe and well.
Best wishes,
Mrs Kavanagh
